ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

BED Programmes

  • Current Grade 12 Leaners are encouraged to apply with their first term Results.
  • Holders of Grade 12 Certificate may apply with 25 Points in the best 5 subjects, with an E in English as a minimum.
  • Mature Age Candidates may apply provided they are 25 years of age and above, with at least 20 points at grade 12 in the best 5 subjects with a minimum of an E in English.

 Post Graduate Diploma in Education

  • In order for a candidate to be admitted to the PGDE (Level 8) qualification, one must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Namibia or beyond and normally must have a school teaching subject.

Diploma in Pre and Junior Primary Education (DPJPE)  

  • In order for a candidate to be admitted to the DPJPE (Level 6) qualification, one must have obtained a minimum of 19 points; Namibian Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO or International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Grade 12/11 or equivalent qualification. Applicants must have passed five subjects (including English minimum E symbol.
  • Mature Age Entry: 25 years or older; at least a Grade 10 school leaving certificate; 2 years relevant working experience. Applicants must pass an entry test to be admitted into the programme.

Diploma in Interactive Media and Webb Development (DIMWD)

  • In order for a candidate to be admitted to the DIMWD (Level 6) qualification, one must have a obtained a minimum of 22 points; Namibian Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO or International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Grade 12/11 or equivalent qualification. Applicants must have passed five subjects (including English minimum D symbol and a Namibian language minimum D symbol).
  • Mature Age Entry: 25 years or older; at least Grade 10 school leaving certificate; 2 years relevant working experience. Applicants must pass an entry test to be admitted into the programme.

Certificate in Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM)

  • The qualification in Information and Knowledge Management prepares the candidates to be become members of a profession that is active in information and knowledge environments. Employers include the NGOs, private and public sectors. Career positions include; Library Clerks/ Technicians, Data Capturing Clerks/Technicians, Records Clerks/Technicians; Knowledge Management Clerks/Technicians, Documentation Technicians; Filing Clerks/Technicians; Registry Clerks/Technicians, Database Technicians and etc.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 18 points; Namibian Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO or International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Grade 12/11 or equivalent qualification. Applicants must have passed five subjects (including English minimum E symbol).
  • Mature Age Entry: 25 years or older; at least a Grade 10 school leaving certificate; 2 years relevant working experience. Applicants must pass an entry test to be admitted into the programme.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Will be accepted on equivalent qualifications to Namibian Systems and point scale or better. Students having obtained qualifications or parts thereof at tertiary institutions outside Namibia may only be admitted if such application is accompanied by an official evaluation of the obtained qualification(s) or parts thereof issued by an approved body responsible for evaluation of qualifications. All admissions made before evaluation will be subject to confirmation.

ADMISSIONS

Prospective Students are invited to express interest and apply for the SPC Teacher Education Department (TED)’s BED and or PGDE programmes commencing in January and August each year.

Application Period

SPC shall normally have two admissions in a year, in January and in August each year. The following intake periods should be noted;

January Admissions

The Application Period is open from the 1st of July 2022 to 30 October each year for both current Grade 12 and former Grade 12 Leaners and Mature Entry level.

 August Admissions

The Application Period for the second intake for August Intake is open from the 1st of April to the 30th of June each year for both current Grade 12 Leaners, Former 12 Leaners and Mature Entry Candidates.
